Kashidakari- Kashmiri embroidery that comes straight from the hands of the skilled craftsmen. It is inspired by nature and surroundings.
Here, the embroiderer has taken a liquid pure kora silk fabric(called organza nowadays) in warm pink shade.
The scene embroidered on the saree is that of a baraat- featuring decorated horses, so beautifully one could only be mesmerised by how each vibrant shade comes out so well on the saree. The pallu and borders have sheep- it’s the craftsmen’s way of adding that minute details that says the saree was jewelled up in Kashmir.
When you look closely at the body, right before the pallu- it has a bride’s veil embroidered all over it featuring golden spiral motifs with leaves. Pure bliss, purely regal.
At the touch, the saree almost feels transparent but an obedient one, that pleats and sits better than a mulberry. Well, possible because it is a vintage piece of art.
On that note- the saree has an age of 45 years or more, still holding her head high with strength and lustre. After all, you won’t find a piece this regal and rare today!
