Raagini
A soulful mulberry silk Banarasi, divided in two halves. The first half carries with itself three different weaves- tanchoi, kinkhwab and jamavar. The shades of violet and rani pink are so in harmony, you’d think they were molten together in a vessel and then sprad onto the saree.
The second half is the rani pink base, woven in tanchoi weave. Hard to see but always visible to a handloom lover’s eye.
The pallu ends in a silver violet melody followed by the borders and the separation on the saree.
To visualise the drape- ragini is enchanted on the bottom half while the front is comfortable plainish- so it has a rich sheen that comes from the almost invisible weave, but it’s not loud. Letting you add all your jewels that you wish to, without appearing tacky. The bottom remaining heavily engraved around your waist- ideal for a lehenga drape or seedha pallu drape. Sophisticated, elegant, chic and always making other wonder- what in the world is this saree?
